People reports that Princess Kate traveled to the North of England on Jan. 27 for her first solo away day of 2026, visiting community groups to spotlight creativity and nature as supports for mental health and social connection. She began in Bradford, West Yorkshire, about 200 miles north of London, visiting Family Action’s Children’s Trauma Therapy service, which helps youngsters aged between 4 and 18 years old and their families recover from complex trauma.

Kate met with therapists and joined a creative therapy session to see how play and imagination are used to help children process trauma; Family Action provides practical help to young people and adults who may have experienced adversity, abuse or traumatic bereavement. Her second stop was at Wakefield Trinity, about 20 miles away, where as patron of the Rugby Football League she took part in a skills session with schoolgirls and met elderly people involved in the In Touch program, which aims to tackle social isolation through quizzes, workshops and stadium tours.

She also met young people from the Inspiring Futures program and joined training drills with girls from the Champion Schools competition, a high school knock-out contest played at the start of the academic year. The day followed joint engagements with her husband, Prince William, including a visit to Scotland on Jan.
