On Jan. 28, Kensington Palace announced that the Princess of Wales will visit Hiut Denim in Cardigan, West Wales, on Tuesday, Feb. 3, to tour textile manufacturers. Princess Kate has increasingly used her royal platform to highlight the British textiles industry and visited several manufacturers across the U.K.

in 2025. Last week she and Prince William visited Radical Weavers in Stirling, Scotland, where she even wove tartan on a loom. Hiut Denim gained global attention in January 2018 when Meghan Markle wore the brand’s high-waisted Dina skinny jeans during an official tour of Cardiff with then-fiancé Prince Harry.

Cofounder David Hieatt credited the surge in demand to the “Meghan Markle effect.” David later told PEOPLE, “In the next four weeks, we are moving into a factory that’s three times the size and we’ve hired eight new people — the Meghan Markle Effect is real!” David and his wife, Clare Hieatt, launched Hiut in Cardigan in 2011 to revive the town’s denim manufacturing after Dewhirst, once Britain’s largest denim factory in Cardigan, moved production offshore to Morocco in 2002.

David said the company’s mission was to bring denim back and find jobs for the town’s machinists, whom he called “Grand Masters.” During her visit, the Princess of Wales will learn more about the sustainability and craftsmanship that make Hiut Denim unique and will meet the company’s CEO, Johann Von Loeper.
