Keke Palmer to lead Peacock's modern remake of The 'Burbs
Movieweb reports Peacock has unveiled a trailer for a series adaptation of Joe Dante's 1989 dark comedy cult classic The 'Burbs, with Keke Palmer replacing Tom Hanks in the lead role.
The official synopsis says the show is "set in present-day suburbia" and "follows a young couple returning to the husband's childhood home. Their world is upended when new neighbors move in next door, bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light, and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood." The trailer shows Palmer's character Samira arriving at "Ashfield Place," dubbed "the safest town in America," and questioning a neighbor about an out-of-place Victorian house; other residents warn it is a "haunted murder house."
The lengthy preview is described as the best look yet at the modern remake, which is due to find its home on the streaming service this February. Further details about the series beyond the trailer have not been provided in the report.
