King's Field–inspired RPG Lunacid is getting DLC as creator says she’s baffled
Pcgamer reports that Lunacid, a dark fantasy RPG inspired by FromSoftware's older King's Field series, is getting some DLC, and its creator Kira has expressed bafflement at the game's unexpected success.
Kira deliberately drew on the lesser‑known King's Field lineage rather than FromSoftware's post‑Demon's Souls output. Despite that leftfield approach, Lunacid has earned a 'Very Positive' rating on Steam from over 7,000 reviews. Nearly three years after the base release, Kira last year issued a free spinoff called Lunacid: Tears of the Moon built with FromSoftware's Sword of Moonlight toolkit, saying she "enjoyed challenging" herself within its constraints.
Kira has also remarked on her surprise, writing that "This was supposed to be niche. I thought I'd be a mysterious and unknown artist forever." Critics have praised Lunacid for capturing the feel of King's Field, with one reviewer saying, "Lunacid isn't just convincingly old, it's convincingly King's Field old." The report notes DLC is planned but does not provide further details on content or timing.
