Klopp turned down Man Utd and Chelsea after leaving Liverpool
Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp turned down approaches from Manchester United and Chelsea after leaving Anfield, his agent Marc Kosicke said. The German coach opted to take a break from football following his departure from the Reds but has already been lured back into work as the Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull.
Klopp achieved great success at Liverpool, winning the Champions League in 2019 and the club’s first league title in 30 years in 2019-20. He also lifted the FA Cup, League Cup and Club World Cup before announcing his departure in 2024. He explained: "But that I still take this decision shows you that I am convinced it is the one I have to take.
It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy." Kosicke said enquiries kept coming: "Even Chelsea and Manchester United enquired, although Jürgen had clearly stated that he would not coach any other club in England. These enquiries keep coming. He's extremely happy with what he's achieved.
