Randal Kolo Muani fired Tottenham to victory at Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League one day after a car accident on the motorway while he was driving to Stansted for the team flight, the report says. The striker’s front right tyre blew out on Tuesday and his Ferrari was a write-off, but Kolo Muani walked away and took a later flight to make the game.

Eintracht fans booed his every touch and he broke the deadlock with a well-taken volley just after half-time, a goal the report says set Spurs fair for another win and a fast track to the last 16. Dominic Solanke made sure of the result towards the end with a low finish into the far corner.

The report notes Kolo Muani’s volley was the loanee’s latest strike, his only other goals for Spurs having come against his parent club, Paris Saint-Germain, earlier in the competition. The match was played amid snowfall and loud home support. Thomas Frank stuck with a 3-4-2-1 formation, asked João Palhinha to play at right centre-half and had to manage with only 11 established outfield players available, the report says, while nine players were out injured and others were ineligible in Europe.

Eintracht were described as dismally off-colour after a poor run that led to the sacking of Dino Toppmöller and the appointment of interim Dennis Schmitt; the club already knew it had no chance of qualifying for the playoff round, the report adds.
