Kouji Okada joins Compile Hearts on a school life RPG
Pcgamer reports JRPG veteran Kouji Okada, co-founder of Atlus and co-creator of Shin Megami Tensei and Persona, is working with JRPG studio Compile Hearts on a new "school life RPG".
Okada left Atlus in 2003 to form now-shuttered studio Gaia and had not been active in game development for 16 years. Compile Hearts, best known for the Neptunia series, described the project as "Okada’s ultimate message to those who will lead the next generation." Okada is joined by writer Tadashi Satomi, credited as a scenario writer for Persona 2 and Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga and its sequel and also known for The Caligula Effect series and Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, and by composer Tsukasa Masuko, who composed for Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei and other early Atlus JRPGs and most recently worked on The Caligula Effect series and Monark.
While Okada helped set the tone for the series with 1996's Revelations: Persona and its early Persona-fusing elements and high school setting, he did not work on Persona 3, which first featured the social links system. Beyond the reveal and the credited team members, the report does not provide a release date or further gameplay details.
