Kristin Cavallari reflects on 'painful' and 'ugly' divorce from Jay Cutler
Kristin Cavallari said she embraced the pain of her split from Jay Cutler on a recent episode of the 'Let's Be Honest' podcast, adding that until the divorce she had not learned 'to love the hard times too.' 'There is beauty in pain and we need the dark to appreciate the light,' she said as she described the experience.
For years she pushed feelings away — 'I didn't wanna feel anything' — and pretended to be fine, unable to ask for help or be vulnerable. After the breakup she decided 'this is the first time in my life I wanna feel it all,' including 'the good, the bad, the ugly,' choosing to sit with the pain rather than rush from it.
Cavallari and Cutler married in 2013 and share three children, Camden, 13, Jaxon, 11, and Saylor, 10. They announced their split in a joint statement in 2020 — 'With great sadness after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce' — and finalized the divorce in 2022, though the fallout has continued as they publicly dispute settlement terms.
