Lamar Odom enters 30-day rehab after Jan. 17 DUI arrest in Las Vegas
Lamar Odom has checked into rehab after he was arrested for DUI earlier this month, his manager Gina Rodriguez told Page Six. The retired NBA athlete made the "personal decision" to enter a 30-day treatment program at iRely Recovery to "reset and focus on his health." He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in Las Vegas on Jan.
17. Rodriguez said, "After a recent incident, he took a step back to reflect and address triggers he’s been dealing with. He’s taking full responsibility and choosing to be proactive about his wellbeing." She added, "Lamar is grateful for the support and is committed to moving forward in a healthy, positive way." According to its website, iRely Recovery helps those battling substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders "find balance, own their recovery, and cultivate a new life designed for wellness and success." The former Lakers star, 46, is reportedly seeking help to quit marijuana because he’s afraid his smoking could lead to doing hard drugs again, Rodriguez told TMZ.
In addition to the DUI charge, TMZ reported he’s also facing two traffic violations in connection to the incident: driving more than 41+ miles per hour over the limit and improper lane change/failure to maintain lane. Odom’s struggles with substance abuse have been well documented.
He survived a near-fatal overdose in October 2015 after he was found unconscious at Nevada’s Love Ranch brothel and went into a coma.
