Lead story designer completes full Witcher playthrough on YouTube
"That was a very satisfying half of the year," Artur Ganszyniec says as the credits roll on CD Projekt's original Witcher game from 2007. Five months earlier he began posting a full let's play on YouTube titled "The Witcher with a designer's commentary," and the final episode went up yesterday.
Ganszyniec, who was lead story designer and contributed some dialogue, uses the series to add context to design choices, share anecdotes, and offer behind-the-scenes details. The run is 26 episodes long, each roughly an hour or two, and the first video notes it’s his first time playing the game in almost 20 years, making the series easy to treat like a podcast.
The 2007 game has certainly aged and was rough at launch, but its Enhanced Edition and ambition keep it a worthwhile RPG even if later Witcher titles and TV spinoffs have overshadowed it. A full remake is on the way, which Ganszyniec says he hopes will be good toward the end of his playthrough.
