Leaked bug report reveals Google’s Aluminium OS merging Android and ChromeOS
A leaked Google bug report has revealed early details of Aluminium OS, the company’s planned merge of Android and ChromeOS, and the platform is expected to arrive sometime this year (2026), according to published reports. The bug report, originally spotted by 9to5Google after a Telegram tip from a user named Frost Core, focused on Chrome Incognito tabs and included two screenshots and a description.
The link to the report is said to be inaccessible without permission. The report description identified the tested device as an HP Elite Dragonfly 13.5 Chromebook with a board/codename "Brya (Redrix)," running a 12th-generation Intel Core (AlderLake-U) processor. It also listed an ALOS build number of ZL1A.260119.001.A1 and showed the Android version in use as 16.
Video and images accompanying the leak show a UI that closely resembles ChromeOS but with subtle differences — a taller status bar tuned for larger screens, a slightly modified mouse cursor, and Chrome in mobile mode where the extension button is unavailable. A YouTube video by Shane Craig compared the interface to folding Android phones whose unfolded UI resembles a desktop.
Android Authority reported that Google describes Aluminium OS as "built with artificial intelligence (AI) at the core," suggesting integration with Gemini.
