Lee Cronin's The Mummy trailer unveiled, reboot due April 17, 2026

Movieweb reports Warner Bros. has unveiled the first teaser for Lee Cronin's The Mummy, which opens in theaters on April 17, 2026. The short teaser centers on the resurrection of a family's young daughter; the official logline reads: "The young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace—eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare." Cronin, who wrote and directed the film after the reception to Evil Dead Rise, assembled a cast that includes Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, Natalie Grace and Veronica Falcón, with producers James Wan, Jason Blum and John Keville and executive producers listed as Cronin, Michael Clear, Judson Scott and Macdara Kelleher.

The reboot, distributed by New Line Cinema, is described as a reimagining of the series that began in 1932 and is being presented as one of the most horror-centric takes on the monster in recent decades. Cronin's Mummy is not connected to a separate Brendan Fraser–led sequel reportedly in development, which would bring back Fraser and Rachel Weisz with Matt Bettinelli‑Olpin and Tyler Gillett attached and a script by David Coggeshall; that project is said to be in early stages and Fraser has said it is not officially happening yet.
