Lenore Taylor has resigned as editor-in-chief of the organisation’s Australian edition after 10 years leading the operation. She joined the global media organisation in 2013 as founding political editor and was promoted to editor-in-chief in 2016. Under her leadership the news site grew from a small startup into the country’s fourth most-read news website, expanding into podcasts, video and social media.

It now employs 140 editorial staff and is supported by reader contributions and advertising. Taylor oversaw reporting that established the outlet as a progressive voice, notably in political, environmental and Indigenous coverage, and the operation won 12 Walkley awards during her tenure.

The Ipsos Iris ranking lists it with a unique audience of 8.4 million, ahead of the Sydney Morning Herald, the Age and the Australian.
