Collider reports that Letterboxd users have ranked all three Avatar films: the original Avatar (2009) leads with a 3.7/5.0 average from 49k Fans, while Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) and Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025) each hold 3.6/5.0 averages with 21k and 6.3k Fans respectively.

The piece notes that the 2009 film remains the franchise’s top earner at $2,743,577,587 and that the first and second films are the number one and three highest-grossing films ever made. It also says Avatar: Fire and Ash has already passed $1,087,572,943 worldwide in “a mere two-ish weeks” after its December 19th, 2025 release and that the third film introduces a new tribe expanding the series’ scope.
