Levy says Starfighter matches Stranger Things' scale while staying character-focused
Movieweb: Shawn Levy, who has moved on from Stranger Things and is entering post-production on Star Wars: Starfighter, compared his experience making the Netflix series with the upcoming film while speaking to The Hollywood Reporter.
Levy said that both worlds are based on "spectacle and scale," but stressed the importance of remaining grounded in characters. "If I've learned anything on Stranger Things, it's that you can get intimidated by the scale of franchise expectation. But you will lose your way if that's your focus," he said, adding that "Star Wars: Starfighter has spectacle and scale and adventure at a level I've never done in my whole career," yet is "very much anchored in a human-scale, character-sized story."
He also reiterated his ongoing commitment to the Stranger Things universe: the show is getting an animated series, Stranger Things: Tales from '85, which he will produce with the Duffers and which he described as having "a different tone, a different visual style" and not being "Stranger Things, but animated." Levy said "Nothing is more priority for me than Stranger Things" and called the show his "North Star," while he balances work on Starfighter and other projects.
