Liam Neeson’s 2022 spy thriller Blacklight tops Tubi charts after flop
Liam Neeson’s 2022 spy thriller Blacklight has become a streaming hit on the free service Tubi, landing among the most-watched movies on the domestic Tubi charts this week and claiming the number one spot several days in a row, according to FlixPatrol.
Blacklight was originally released in 2022 and opened to poor box-office returns and reviews: it grossed roughly $15 million against a reported budget of more than $40 million and holds a 12% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Rotten Tomatoes’ audience score for the film is 82%, with the site’s audience consensus reading, "If you're in the mood for a conspiracy thriller featuring Liam Neeson in action mode, Blacklight delivers." The critics' consensus on the site bluntly reads, "Turn it off."
The movie was directed by Mark Williams, best known for co-creating the Netflix series Ozark with Bill Dubuque; Williams previously worked with Neeson on the 2020 film Honest Thief. In Blacklight, Neeson plays an FBI fixer who becomes embroiled in a government conspiracy.
The streaming surge comes after Neeson’s recent box-office rebound with The Naked Gun remake, which was released theatrically last year and reportedly grossed over $100 million globally with strong reviews. Blacklight is available to stream on Tubi.
