Liam Rosenior says online mockery is affecting his family
Liam Rosenior has opened up about the ridicule directed at him since he became Chelsea’s head coach, saying he expected the backlash and revealing it has affected his family. He has opened with seven wins from nine games and taken Chelsea into the last 16 of the Champions League, but has been dubbed “LinkedIn Liam”, compared to David Brent and mocked after miscontrolling a ball during the defeat by Arsenal.
“The reason I know this is because I’ve got teenage children,” Rosenior said. “They’re on social media. It affects them. It affects my parents, it affects my family. But I knew walking into this job it was going to happen. It’s normal.” He added: “When you’re prepared for it, it makes you smile.
I’m a confident person. And if you’re affected by things like that you shouldn’t be in this job.” Asked why he had expected it, he said: “Maybe my background and my coaching and being at a club the size of this is different. It’s different. I’m not a massive name.
