Goal reports that Liam Rosenior must wait to take charge of Chelsea for the first time, with Under-21 coach Calum McFarlane set to manage the Blues against Fulham on Wednesday evening.

Rosenior has been officially appointed as Enzo Maresca's permanent replacement, signing a six-and-a-half-year contract at Stamford Bridge after moving from BlueCo-owned Strasbourg. He said he was "extremely humbled and honoured" to be appointed and pledged to protect the club's identity and pursue trophies. Rosenior has not yet worked with the first-team squad; McFarlane took training on Tuesday and Rosenior will sit with Chelsea directors at Craven Cottage.

Rosenior will instead take charge of the FA Cup third-round tie with Charlton this weekend and then the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal. Maresca wrote in a statement: "LEAVE THIS WORLD A LITTLE BETTER THAN YOU FOUND IT," and thanked Chelsea fans for their support during his 18 months, citing Champions League qualification, the Conference League and the Club World Cup. Chelsea are currently fifth, three points behind fourth-placed Liverpool.
