According to Goal, Lionel Messi told Luzu TV this week that he does not see himself as a coach and would prefer to be an owner when he retires.

Messi said he would like "to have my own club, start from the bottom, and make it grow. To be able to give the kids the opportunity to develop and achieve something important." He has also spoken about getting involved in business, saying at the American Business Forum that he is "just getting started" with learning the business world.

Still active on the field, Messi signed an Inter Miami extension until 2028 late last year and has expressed excitement about moving into Miami Freedom Park in 2026. Before any retirement plans take shape, he will focus on staying in top condition to help Argentina defend their World Cup title this year and on building from Miami's MLS Cup success in 2026, while currently enjoying the off-season ahead of pre-season training in the coming weeks.
