Liverpool player ratings vs Man City: Alisson's error costly, Ekitike misses — Goal

Liverpool threw away victory in the final 10 minutes against Manchester City, slipping to a 2-1 defeat. Dominik Szoboszlai's stunning free-kick put the Reds ahead in the second half, but late goals from Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland turned the game on its head and left Liverpool losing ground to Manchester United and Chelsea in the top-four race.

Alisson Becker produced early saves, diving at Haaland's feet and holding a powerful Semenyo shot, yet he had shaky moments with his feet and foolishly fouled Matheus Nunes to concede a stoppage-time penalty that Haaland converted. Szoboszlai battled well and showed quality in possession before his free-kick, but his inexperience at right-back played a part in Bernardo being left onside and he was sent off late for pulling Haaland back.

Up front, Hugo Ekitike twice wasted clear chances — curling one effort wide and heading another off target from Mohamed Salah's cross — while Salah created dangerous moments but failed to finish at the required level.
