Lodge Solar Speaker 4 Series 2 solves charging woes for outdoor gatherings

The Lodge Solar Speaker 4 Series 2, available now for $399, pairs four solar panels with a 10,000 mAh battery to remove the need for routine charging. The Bluetooth speaker is weatherproof with an IP66 rating and, despite weighing 7.5 pounds, is easy to carry by a wide handle on the back.

Lodge claims full sunlight delivers infinite non-stop playtime, though winter testing did not verify that; with no solar input, the speaker is rated for about 22 hours of playback. The unit’s four solar panels total 180 square inches of capture area, and it can also be charged via a USB-C port on the back.

The box includes the speaker, a USB-C cable, and a three-piece outdoor mounting pole whose spike penetrates grass by about six inches; an extending section and a round metal piece magnetically attach to the speaker bottom and are secured with a screw.
