Yellowstone remains the most expansive contemporary Western on television, spawning prequels 1883 and 1923 and two more offshoots due this March. Although the show aired its final episode more than 400 days ago, it continues to influence interest in modern Western dramas.

Predating Yellowstone, Longmire premiered on Netflix in 2012. The series follows Walt Longmire, the steadfast sheriff of a small Wyoming town who has been a widower for less than a year and masks his pain with duty. Robert Taylor stars as Walt, joined by Katee Sackhoff as Vic Moretti and Lou Diamond Phillips as Henry Stranding Bear; Sackhoff is also known for playing Bo-Katan Kryze in The Mandalorian.

Near the end of 2024 Netflix removed Longmire from its library. Paramount+ restored access for subscribers, and the show has now been added to the Roku Channel, a free service that does not require an account to begin watching.
