Lucasfilm rumored to name Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan as co-presidents
Movieweb reports that Kathleen Kennedy is rumored to step down as president of Lucasfilm in 2026 and be replaced by two co-presidents, Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan; Kennedy was appointed by George Lucas in 2012 before the company was sold to Disney. Kennedy has overseen the sequel trilogy, spin-off films and a major push into streaming television with series such as The Mandalorian and Andor.
The era under her leadership produced box-office highs—four of five Star Wars films since 2012 reportedly grossed over $1 billion, and The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi led their years domestically and worldwide—but also setbacks cited in the report, including Solo and other projects that underperformed, extensive reshoots on films like Rogue One and Solo, and announced projects that never materialized.
The rumored leadership pairing would put Filoni, the current Chief Creative Officer who rose from animation (The Clone Wars, Rebels) and collaborated on The Mandalorian, in charge of creative direction, while Brennan, a former Industrial Light & Magic president and Lucasfilm executive since 2015, would handle the business side.
