Lumie Bodyclock Glow 150 named best sunrise alarm clock in Guardian test
The Guardian's reviewer, who has tested more than a dozen sunrise alarm clocks and used the Lumie Bodyclock Glow 150 every morning for two weeks, concluded that the Glow 150 is the best model they have tried.
The device is certified as a Class I medical device and sits mid‑range in Lumie’s line-up, with an RRP of £119 (priced at £106.49 at Healf at the time of writing). It offers programmable sunrise and sunset simulations that progress from reddish‑orange to white, three duration settings for each cycle (20, 30 or 45 minutes), 10 alarm sounds, tap‑to‑snooze, an auto‑dimming digital display, cable management in the base and a three‑year warranty.
In the reviewer’s experience the Glow 150’s sunrise simulation is especially effective: the light grows brighter and whiter before the alarm, helping them wake feeling more alert and less groggy. The sunset mode created a relaxing ambience for winding down, and the unit also served well as a reading light and a compact travel option during testing.
The reviewer noted some drawbacks: the Glow 150 is only available in black, offers fewer sunrise‑length options than some competitors, and is relatively expensive. Lumie offers a 45‑day trial for its wake‑up lights, but returns require the original packaging and the customer pays postage.
