Independent.co reports non-league Macclesfield, from the sixth tier, stunned holders Crystal Palace 2-1 at Moss Rose, with supporters invading the pitch.

The victory is the first time FA Cup holders have lost to non-league opposition since 1909 and came despite a 117-place gap between the clubs. Goals from captain Paul Dawson and Isaac Buckley-Rickett secured the win for John Rooney's side; Rooney is the brother of Wayne Rooney. The emotional triumph was dedicated to young forward Ethan McLeod, who died in a car accident less than a month earlier.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner said his team "deserved to lose" because of a lack of quality and pride on the pitch. The report did not set out further immediate consequences or what will follow for either club.
