Major films due in 2026 include Hamnet, Wuthering Heights and Nolan’s The Odyssey
A wide-ranging slate of films is scheduled for 2026, from literary adaptations and biopics to franchise sequels and auteur projects. The list names directors such as Christopher Nolan, Emerald Fennell and Paolo Sorrentino, and stars including Jessie Buckley, Margot Robbie, Matt Damon and Timothée Chalamet.
Among the literary adaptations are Hamnet, in which Jessie Buckley plays Anne (or Agnes) Hathaway grieving the loss of her 11-year-old son (Paul Mescal plays Shakespeare), due 9 January; H Is for Hawk, based on Helen Macdonald’s memoir and starring Claire Foy, due 23 January; and Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights with Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff, due 13 February.
The Voice of Hind Rajab is described as a docufictional account using the real audio of a five-year-old Palestinian girl’s last hours, due 16 January. Big commercial projects include Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, with Matt Damon as Odysseus (17 July); Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling (20 March); Michael, a Michael Jackson biopic directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jaafar Jackson (24 April); The Devil Wears Prada 2, with the original cast returning (1 May); and Dune: Part Three, due 18 December, with Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya among the cast.
The list also notes a number of films without fixed release dates or marked "tbc," and includes a variety of other titles across genres and national cinemas.
