'Man on Fire' now streaming on Peacock ahead of Netflix reboot
The 2004 action thriller Man on Fire is now streaming on Peacock ahead of Netflix's planned reboot. Directed by the late Tony Scott, the film stars Denzel Washington and is widely regarded by fans as one of his best performances. It was based on the novel by A.
J. Quinnell. At its core the film is a story of redemption. Washington plays John Creasy, a former CIA operative turned alcoholic bodyguard who finds purpose when he is hired to protect nine-year-old Pita, played by Dakota Fanning. When Pita is abducted by the Sánchez brothers and a ransom exchange goes wrong, Creasy embarks on a violent quest to rescue her.
Man on Fire was the second film adaptation of Quinnell's novel, following a 1987 version starring Scott Glenn. Produced for around $70 million, it earned $130 million during its theatrical run and later found additional life on home video.
