Man Utd plotting shock move for Alexis Mac Allister

Manchester United are plotting a move to sign Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister this summer, keeping close tabs on the Argentina international as they seek to address midfield problems. The Red Devils are drawing up a list of targets despite uncertainty over who will be in charge, with Michael Carrick currently in interim charge.

Mac Allister, 27, is under contract at Anfield until 2028 but has endured a difficult season after a serious groin injury last term. He has made 21 starts this season, without scoring and with two assists. Luring him away would be a significant challenge; while players have represented both clubs across their careers, no player has moved directly between the two since Paul Chisnall joined Liverpool from United in 1964.

United are also said to be interested in Brighton's Carlos Baleba, Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton and Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson.
