Man Utd trigger one-year options to keep Toone, Terland, Naalsund and George until 2027
Manchester United have extended the expiring contracts of Ella Toone, Elisabeth Terland, Lisa Naalsund and Gabby George until the summer of 2027, Goal reports.
All four were due to become free agents in six months and able to discuss moves with foreign clubs, but United have acted to trigger one-year clauses. The Guardian first reported the developments and head coach Marc Skinner confirmed them in his pre‑Arsenal press conference, saying: "They're all under contract. Those players are all under contract now for another 18 months." The club highlighted Toone's pathway from the academy and her role in the first team since 2018, Terland's 22 goals in 47 appearances (10 in 20 this season), and the value of Naalsund and George as squad members as United prepare for four‑competition demands and their first Women's Champions League proper campaign.
United say the option years give a window to negotiate longer deals and Skinner added that "Matt [Johnson, director of women’s football] and the team are working hard" behind the scenes to secure extensions. Questions remain over three other players — Leah Galton, Rachel Williams and Hannah Blundell — whose contracts are also due to expire this summer and whose futures could affect January transfer activity as the club looks to add further depth.
