Man Utd women beat Atletico to reach first UWCL quarter-final — Goal

Manchester United will take on Bayern Munich next month in their first-ever Women's Champions League quarter-final after goals from Julia Zigiotti Olme and Jess Park completed a 2-0 win on the night and a 5-0 victory on aggregate against Atletico Madrid. United were clinical across the two legs and delivered a performance for the home fans at Leigh Sports Village.

Atleti started the match the brighter, with Synne Jensen causing problems and forcing Phallon Tullis-Joyce into a smart early stop; a resulting corner saw Lauren head over the bar. United responded, creating chances through Lea Schuller, Lisa Naalsund and Melvine Malard before Naalsund cut back for Zigiotti to sweep home and break the deadlock.

From there United took firm control. Hinata Miyazawa had a clever effort saved before Park produced a long-range strike into the top corner to make it 2-0 at the break.
