Manchester City rout Exeter 10-1 as Antoine Semenyo scores and assists on debut
Goal reports Manchester City opened their FA Cup campaign with a 10-1 victory over Exeter City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
City survived an early scare when James Trafford saved Ed Turns' header, then took control as Max Alleyne bundled home after a scramble. Rodri added a long-range strike, and Exeter conceded two own goals from Jake Doyle-Hayes and Jack Fitzwater late in the first half. Antoine Semenyo, who completed his move from Bournemouth on Friday, set up Rico Lewis for the fifth and then scored the sixth; Tijjani Reijnders, Nico O'Reilly and debutant Ryan McAidoo also found the net, while substitute George Birch pulled one back for Exeter.
Pep Guardiola named six changes from the side that drew with Brighton, rested Erling Haaland at half-time and gave minutes to several academy graduates. City, who were playing the first-ever meeting between the clubs, have reached the FA Cup final in each of the previous three editions.
