Mandy Moore says motherhood reshaped her closest friendships
Businessinsider reports that Mandy Moore, 41, says becoming a mother has changed which friends she feels closest to.
During an appearance on Wednesday's episode of the 'Conversations with Cam' podcast, Moore said she 'I've had to sort of mourn in a way, not the loss of those friendships, but like how they've changed,' and that she has grown closer to friends who are also parents of young children. She said she was caught 'off guard' by how some friendships evolved and that she now instinctively turns to other parents for support. Moore and her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, have three children: Gus, Ozzie, and Lou.
Moore said she formed a close-knit group of parents during the pandemic and credited longtime friend Hilary Duff with starting a music class that gathered the group. Over time the group began meeting more informally for holidays, birthdays and outings, and Moore said 'The mom chat is always like popping off with questions, comments, concerns, fun gossip, all the things, you know. And so they mean everything.'
Moore has previously spoken about the role her mom friends play in her life, telling InStyle in 2021 that she's 'made so many wonderful friends' through the group, and telling People in 2025, 'There's just something about the collective chaos that parents endure together that makes them especially equipped to handle anything.'
