Leaked Marathon trailer suggests March 5, 2026 release date

Kotaku reports a new Marathon story trailer appears to have leaked on Xbox ahead of schedule, and screenshots from the footage showing a March 5, 2026 release date have spread online as Sony works to remove the clips.

The leaked video reportedly includes previously unseen gameplay footage highlighting maps, runners, guns and the project’s distinct art style. After a 2025 delay left Marathon with a vague March window, the March 5 date would place the release at the early end of that range. According to Paul Tassi at Forbes, the trailer and final release date are accurate and Bungie plans to make an official announcement this week. Fans are also speculating Bungie may run at least one round of open beta tests, which sources suggest could occur before the end of February; if so, it would be the last free hands-on opportunity ahead of launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC at a $40 price point.

Bungie has since released the official trailer and confirmed an expansive voice cast, and pre-order pages for Standard, Deluxe and Collector’s Editions are live early. The Standard Edition is listed as including access to all gameplay updates and a set of pre-order rewards, and the Deluxe Edition adds a Premium Rewards Pass voucher, 200 SILK tokens and additional weapon and runner cosmetics, per the posted edition details.
