Mark Gatiss Says Bookish Season 2 Will Be More Ambitious

By the time Bookish returns for its second season, Gabriel Book’s world won’t feel quite so small. Set in London in 1946, the series follows Book, an antiquarian bookseller with a razor-sharp intellect who helps the police unravel complex murder cases, using his mastery of books as an investigative tool.

After establishing the tone, characters and cozy-but-deadly atmosphere of Archangel Lane in Season 1, creator and star Mark Gatiss says the next chapter is ready to widen its lens in both story and scale. 'Yeah, it’s definitely more ambitious,' Gatiss said, noting that early support from UKTV and PBS allowed the show to move ahead; 'We’ve finished shooting just before Christmas, so it means it’ll be on later this year.' Season 1 deliberately kept its geography tight so viewers could get comfortable in Book’s immediate surroundings.
