Marshals: Luke Grimes’ Yellowstone Spin-Off Joins U.S. Marshals — CBS Sets March 1 Premiere

CBS will premiere Marshals, a Yellowstone spin-off starring Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, on Sunday, March 1. The network has released new images teasing a faster-paced, action-packed series as Kayce leaves the ranching world for law enforcement. The images preview Grimes returning to the saddle with a new crew, and show Kayce remaining close to his Yellowstone allies — including Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) — coming to their aid when a problem arises on the Broken Rock reservation.

According to the show’s official description, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and a Navy SEAL to bring “range justice” to Montana. His teammates include Pete Calvin (Logan Marshall-Green), Belle Skinner (Arielle Kebbel), Andrea Cruz (Ash Santos) and Miles Kittle (Tatanka Means); his family connections include son Tate (Brecken Merrill) and confidantes Mo (Mo Brings Plenty) and Rainwater.

The series premiere, titled "Piya Wiconi," is billed in the logline as the team reuniting with an old SEAL teammate to hunt down a bomber targeting the Broken Rock Reservation, with the trail leading to a dangerous encounter with an armed anti-government militia. Recent trailer footage hints that Kayce’s wife, Monica (Kelly Asbille), may be dead — her absence from the trailer and Asbille’s omission from some cast listings have fueled that concern — but the cause and any connection to Kayce’s new career remain unclear.
