Matheus Cunha praises Ruben Amorim for role in Man Utd revival
Matheus Cunha has defended Ruben Amorim, saying the former head coach deserves credit for Manchester United's recent turnaround. Despite Amorim’s dismissal in early January, Cunha believes the foundation for Michael Carrick’s unbeaten run was laid by the Portuguese tactician and praised his character and role in assembling the current squad.
Amorim arrived with high expectations from Sporting CP but was relieved after a 14-month tenure that produced just two victories in seven Premier League outings and what the club endured as its statistically worst season in over half a century. Since Carrick took charge on an interim basis, United have embarked on a five-match unbeaten run, including four consecutive wins over Manchester City and league leaders Arsenal.
Cunha, who scored the late winner at the Emirates Stadium, said: "I've always been very grateful for everything Ruben did.
