Matt Damon says Nolan's The Odyssey is the pinnacle of his career
Movieweb reports that Matt Damon called Christopher Nolan's upcoming film The Odyssey "the pinnacle of my entire career" during an appearance with Ben Affleck on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Damon plays Odysseus in Nolan's globe-trotting adaptation, which follows his long journey home to Ithaca after the Trojan Horse and includes encounters with threats such as the cyclops Polyphemus and the Sirens. Affleck told of visiting the set with his children, saying they were the only guests allowed that day and saw the crew create an actual storm for the "warriors on the water." Damon said he "loved every minute of it."
The actor said on the New Heights podcast that Nolan wanted him "lean but strong," and that he lost weight to 167 pounds and stopped eating gluten as part of his preparation. Nolan's cast also includes Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson, Jon Bernthal and others, with some roles undisclosed; The Odyssey will be released in cinemas on July 17.
