Spider-Man: Homecoming — the 133-minute film that kicked off a pivotal reboot of the character — has climbed to the top of HBO Max's worldwide film charts. It outpaced recent releases such as the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot and Death of a Unicorn, as well as older titles like Michael Mann's Blackhat, and did so despite not being available to U.S.

subscribers, hitting number one in 20 countries. Directed by Jon Watts, the film follows Peter Parker returning to New York after fighting alongside the Avengers in Captain America: Civil War. Living with Aunt May and mentored by Tony Stark, Parker juggles teenage life with a desire to prove himself as Spider-Man when the Vulture, who profits from weaponized Chitauri salvage, emerges as a dangerous foe.

The supporting cast features Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr., Jon Favreau, Gwyneth Paltrow, Donald Glover, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori and Bokeem Woodbine. Upon release it earned $880.9 million and ranked among the top five highest-grossing films in the MCU at the time.
