Movieweb reports that Nexus Point News says the female character reportedly being cast for James Gunn's Man of Tomorrow could be the alien warlord Maxima, presented as a secondary antagonist alongside Brainiac who may later change sides.

The article notes Maxima was created by Roger Stern and George Pérez and first appeared in Action Comics #645 (September 1989). In comics she is the oldest child of Almerac's royal family who initially sought Superman, later becoming an ally and briefly joining the Justice League; a younger New 52 version debuted in Supergirl #36 (January 2015) and was portrayed as a lesbian and outcast. Nexus Point News links her comic history of reluctantly teaming with Brainiac in the 1992 "Panic in the Sky" storyline to the reported film pairing of Maxima and Brainiac.

Filming for Man of Tomorrow is set to begin in spring 2026 and the film is slated to open in July 2027, but the Maxima report is unconfirmed and DC Studios has not commented. James Gunn has already denied that Wonder Woman will appear, saying, "Scoopers are taking a stab at guessing [Wonder Woman]," and only time—or a response from Gunn—will tell whether Maxima appears or if the movie draws on "Panic in the Sky" elements that could involve characters such as the Justice Gang, Supergirl, Lobo and possibly Peacemaker.
