Goal reports MC Alger coach Rulani Mokwena has confirmed the Algerian club have been pursuing Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana winger Relebohile Mofokeng.

Mokwena told the media after MC Alger's 1-0 win over CS Constantine: "I know the [MC Alger] fans want Mofokeng, I know this, and believe me, I want Mofokeng." He added that Mofokeng "has had many, many offers and has set his sights on going to Europe," and said the club had explored the possibility despite the player's preference. The now 21-year-old broke through in the 2022/23 season under Jose Riveiro and has helped Pirates win four MTN8 titles, two Nedbank Cups and the recent Carling Knockout trophy; he has also been linked with teams including Wolverhampton Wanderers, Rangers, clubs in Belgium and Al Ahly.

Mofokeng has himself said in a recent interview he is ready for a move abroad: "I think if something can be available for me, I can get the chance somewhere in another country. I think it will be a very good move." Bafana coach Hugo Broos earlier suggested the player's stalled transfer attempts had affected his form, saying "they made him crazy!" It is not known whether a transfer to MC Alger or elsewhere will materialise; Pirates and Mofokeng are due to return to domestic action after Bafana Bafana's elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations, ongoing in Morocco.
