Former Liverpool midfielder Gary McAllister says Mohamed Salah has endured a "year of inconsistency" at Anfield after Trent Alexander‑Arnold's departure and has urged the 33-year-old to resist offers from the Saudi Pro League, McAllister told OLBG. McAllister pointed to the breakdown in Salah’s relationship with coach Arne Slot and a frosty atmosphere at the club after the winger was left on the bench for the 3-3 draw with Leeds — an episode Salah said led the club to throw him "under the bus." Salah has scored five goals in 22 appearances as Liverpool sit sixth in the league.

The former Scotland international identified Alexander‑Arnold's move to Real Madrid as decisive, saying the telepathic right-side partnership that used to create openings for Salah has gone and that losing that provider has hit Salah's output: "Mo’s suffered by losing Trent and it's just been a year of inconsistency," McAllister added.

McAllister also warned it is unfair to expect immediate replication of that understanding from new options such as Jeremie Frimpong and academy graduate Conor Bradley, arguing building a new partnership takes time and that the new full-backs must learn when to overlap or underlap the forward.
