McDonald’s Announces Trading Card Game Featuring Ronald McDonald
McDonald’s will launch its own trading card game in the UK on March 17. The initial set includes 24 cards to collect and features Ronald McDonald as the chase card. An update adds that the promotion will be UK-only and will not be coming to the U.S.
Cards depict familiar characters such as Grimace, along with more unusual figures: a sentient stool called “Cheeseburger Chair” and Fry Girl, shown as a ball of fries with legs and eyes and wearing shoes. Fry Girl ties back to a 1972 campaign called Fry Kids, originally known as the “French Fry Gobblins.”
Photos from a London card show also revealed non-sentient items like the Multimixer, a milkshake dispenser, and a Milkshape Dip card showing a french fry dunked into a milkshake. A teasing Instagram trailer hints at a foil reverse card bearing only the M logo and brands the project “A new game from The M Universe.” The promotion mentions a “Take it or Flip it game” and says the brand is keeping several cards close to its chest.
