Meater Pro review: $130 smart thermometer that reduces cooking anxiety
ZDNET's reviewer says the Meater Pro, available for about $130, has become essential for reliably cooking steak, chicken, pork and other meats. The device uses five internal sensors plus an ambient sensor and pairs with a companion app on Android and iOS to show detailed temperature readings.
The probe is stainless steel and waterproof, charges in a bamboo magnetic case and connects over Bluetooth 5.2. The case houses a battery and magnets for storage, and the probe also supports a standard AAA battery; five minutes of charging was enough for a two-hour cooking session in the reviewer’s testing.
Lab testing showed accuracy to within half a degree Fahrenheit, and the thermometer is rated for a maximum internal temperature of 221°F and an ambient maximum of 1,000 degrees. The Meater app adds step-by-step recipes and a Master Class section, offers customizable notifications and includes an Apple Watch companion.
