Meet Team USA Bobsled Gold Medalist Elana Meyers Taylor — Nbc

Elana Meyers Taylor entered the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics as one of the most decorated bobsledders and the most decorated Black athlete in Winter Games history. In her fifth and final Games she pursued the one prize missing from her résumé: Olympic gold.

In the women's monobob on Monday she finally reached the top of the podium; as one of the final sledders she took the lead and watched favorite Laura Nolte lose time on her final run, leaving Meyers Taylor with gold and teammate Kaillie Armbruster Humphries with bronze.

A California native who grew up in Georgia and now lives in Texas, Meyers Taylor starred in college softball at George Washington University before making her bobsled debut in 2007 and immediately joining the U.S. National Team. By 2009 she had a world championship silver in the two-woman event, and she won Olympic bronze in the two-woman bobsled at Vancouver in 2010.
