Melania Trump rings NYSE bell to promote documentary before Kennedy Center premiere
First lady Melania Trump rang the New York Stock Exchange opening bell on Wednesday, Jan. 28, as part of a series of appearances to promote her self‑titled documentary, Melania, which is set to premiere at the Kennedy Center on Jan. 29 and reach global theaters on Jan. 30. NYSE president Lynn Martin presented the first lady with a medallion and, for the first time, an engraved commemorative plate congratulating her on the film’s launch; Melania’s office described the ceremonial honor as a chance to mark an “impactful year of leadership” during the first 12 months of President Donald Trump’s second term.
Her husband and son did not attend the appearance; Donald Trump was in Washington, D.C., for a U.S. Treasury Department summit that also featured Nicki Minaj and Kevin O’Leary. In brief remarks before ringing the bell, Melania said, "Superior storytelling drives culture and in turn moves markets," and argued that cultural influence will matter alongside economic power.
