People reports that Melissa Gilbert shared a social media post about child sex abuse in November, weeks before her husband Timothy Busfield faced an arrest warrant issued by the Albuquerque Police Department on Jan. 9 alleging two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and one count of child abuse.

In a Nov. 15 Instagram post Gilbert reflected on her time on Little House on the Prairie, writing that she had been expected to "fall in love with" and kiss an on-screen older love interest and emphasizing, "I WAS A CHILD. 'I WAS FIFTEEN.'" She referenced comments by Megyn Kelly and added, "@Megynkelly you need to be careful with your words." The arrest warrant alleges Busfield, 68, engaged in unlawful sexual conduct with two related 11-year-old boys, one of whom alleges the incidents began when he was 7.

The source says an investigation began in November 2024 after a doctor at the University of New Mexico Hospital notified police; the parents told officers the minors were child actors who met Busfield on the set of the FOX series The Cleaning Lady (which ran from January 2022 until June 2025).
