Movieweb reports that Mercy, starring Rebecca Ferguson and Chris Pratt, claimed the top spot at the North American box office this past weekend with $11.2 million domestically and $22.8 million worldwide, while James Cameron's Avatar: Fire & Ash slipped to second with around $7 million.

Mercy is set in the near future in Los Angeles and follows Detective Christopher Raven (Chris Pratt), who is on trial for murdering his wife (Annabelle Wallis) and must prove his innocence within 90 minutes before an AI judge played by Rebecca Ferguson, Judge Maddox, executes him.

The film was released January 23, 2026, runs 100 minutes, was directed by Timur Bekmambetov, written by Marco van Belle, and lists producers Charles Roven, Majd Nassif, Timur Bekmambetov and Robert Amidon; it cost about $60 million to make. Reviews have been described as pretty dismal, and Movieweb says winter storms depressed North American attendance while the film also underperformed slightly overseas.
