Mewgenics to launch on Steam with 280 achievements
Pcgamer reports that co-creator Edmund McMillen posted a screenshot on X confirming Mewgenics will launch on Steam with 280 achievements.
After more than a decade in development, the game — described as breeding bizarre cats and pitting them in turn-based combat — was previewed last year by Tyler Wilde, who said it seems more complicated than expected. The article notes many games have higher achievement counts, but often because of extensive post-launch updates or low-quality achievement-farming titles; cited examples include Team Fortress 2 with 520 achievements, Payday 2 with 1,328, and the roguelike Tales of Maj'Eyal with 1,782. GamesRadar also pointed out McMillen's previous title, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, has accrued 641 achievements over 11 years.
Mewgenics releases February 11 on Steam. The screenshot confirms a 280-achievement total at launch; the report does not say whether that number will change after release.
