Mewgenics sells 1 million copies in one week; creators 'blindsided' — Pcgamer

Just one week after release, Mewgenics has sold more than one million copies. Tyler Glaiel announced the milestone on X with a fan-made image by artist Whom, and co-creator Edmund McMillen retweeted the post. Glaiel shared some context on wishlists and sales, saying the game had roughly 400,000 wishlists before reviews and jumped to about 600,000 afterward.

He noted week-one sales are usually only a fraction of wishlists, so the early success left both creators "a bit blindsided," and he said he was glad players enjoy the game. The title has also posted strong concurrent numbers on Steam, peaking at more than 115,000 and sitting above 96,500 on a Tuesday afternoon, despite some controversy around parts of the voice cast.

Further support is planned: simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Russian language support are in the works, and McMillen said console versions and DLC are being developed, with DLC further out.
