Mewgenics soundtrack just hit Spotify — an instant classic — Polygon

The Mewgenics soundtrack just hit Spotify, and its surprisingly catchy songs — even ones about flushing poop and eating rat legs — are already on repeat. The delightfully crude soundscape comes from Riduculon, a name familiar to players of The Binding of Isaac, and Spotify currently doesn’t list any lyrics for the tracks.

At first the silly songs and Newgrounds aesthetic made me cringe, but 114 hours later my outlook on Mewgenics has completely changed. Somehow the soundtrack hasn’t grown old, and I keep finding new things to appreciate in every track. Not every piece is juvenile: the music that accompanies the game’s space world is among the classiest video game music I’ve heard in a while.

I’m calling it now — the unhinged Mewgenics soundtrack will go down as a gaming classic, and I’m crossing my fingers we’ll hear an elaborate rendition of at least one song when The Game Awards does its usual musical segment. For now, I recommend listening only to the songs you’ve unlocked in the game so you can experience them as intended.
